Shipping Cost directions suggest Office Expense (ln. 18 of Sch. C)

The walkthrough guide for "Office Expenses" of the Schedule C says:

Let's enter the office expenses for your Handmade goods sales work
If you've already entered any of these expenses, you don't need to enter them again here.
Some examples include:
  • Office supplies
  • Shipping & postage
  • Office cleaning
  • Shredding services
  • Security system
  • Other office expenses

_______

All the questions I see in these forums have people saying to list Shipping Costs as Miscellaneous (ln. 48 Part V).

Why does the official guide text from TurboTax say that Shipping & Postage fit under Office Expenses?

My business only pays postage for the packaged goods I mail to clients.

Either option is equally acceptable.

Some business owners may prefer to categorize their shipping costs as an expense on its own instead of it being combined with other similar expenses.  That is one reason for showing it as a miscellaneous business expense because in that category you have the flexibility to enter your own description.

The end result on the Schedule C is the same no matter where the expense is entered.
