If you are using TurboTax Online, you can only delete your current year return if you "Clear and Start Over". If you clicked on "Clear & Start Over" under My Account, and then confirmed the action, your information is gone and can't be recovered unless you saved your . tax file to the hard drive of your computer.
If you are using the desktop version of TurboTax and deleting your tax return, you should be able to recover it as follow:
- Open the Recycle Bin from either the desktop or the Start menu.
- Locate the missing file you want to restore.
- Highlight the file you need and click "Restore." If you require a bulk restore, you can select multiple files and click "Restore the selected items" in the top left.
- Alternatively, you can drag and drop files from the Recycle Bin to another folder if you do not want it to go to the original location.
Unless you changed the default, a TurboTax individual tax return for 2023, the name will be "* Form 1040 Individual Tax Return.tax2023".
