I'm a contractor for task rabbit and I'm unsure how to file my earnings from them for my taxes

Being paid as an independent contractor for a company, you are considered self-employed for the work that you performed.  This is true regardless of whether you received a Form 1099-MISC or not.  

 

You would enter your income on Schedule C and claim any expenses that you had related to the work you performed.  If you performed similar services for more than one company (such as Task Rabbit and another company), then you would combine everything on a single Schedule C.  

 

Use the following steps to get started with Schedule C:  

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “schedule c” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to schedule c
  • Click on the blue “Jump to schedule c” link
