On the dashboard it shows my taxes being 6161 but when I open the menu for settings etc it shows 0 can anyone help me out with an explanation as to why this happened

The Federal Tax Due/Paid on the Dashboard is not always correct as it anticipates some items for instances standard deductions. You may want to hide the dashboard while working on your returns. When you are completed with your return, the dashboard will match with your tax summary.
