If I build a home office, is it tax deductible as resident agent of a nonprofit LLC?

I am employed in Michigan. In March 2020, my employer permanently closed our offices and we work from home. I do not have a home office and desperately need one. I am also the resident agent, board president and executive director of a nonprofit LLC, but I am not paid. If I have a home office built above my garage, is the construction cost tax-deductible?

As an employee, you cannot claim the home office deduction.

As a board member of a non-profit organization, you cannot claim the home office deduction.
