Under 'Other Common Business Expenses' there is a section for 'Other Miscellaneous Expenses.' Enter moving expenses here by entering 'Moving Expenses' in the description.
Since my S-corp is a home business can I also deduct moving expense for moving the rest of the home. Not clear on how the IRS handles this. Read some stuff that you can and some stuff that you can't. Any help is appreciated
When in comes to deducting business expenses, you need to determine if the expenses are ordinary and necessary for the business. Moving to a new home would not be an ordinary business expense. So, your only option would be to argue that is was necessary to move to a new home, that it some way benefited your business in a significant way. It would be a hard sell though with the IRS, as it is typically not allowed, so you would have to have an extraordinary circumstance that required you to move for business purposes.
