Deductible expenses when going from 1099 to W-2

I was full-time 1099 for the first six months of the year. I am now W-2 but do have a small self-employed side gig that may or may not earn a bit extra income for the remaining months. Am I still able to deduct the self-employed expenses such as portion of phone/computer used for work, etc. even if some months might not have self-employed income? Or can I only deduct those in a month where I have specifically earned side gig 1099 income, and does it matter how little/much I earned?

Thanks for joining us today, sajero2!

You may deduct the business use of your phone as a tax deduction while self-employed. The months that you did not do the 1099 work nor the gig work would not be deductible. Figure out a percentage that applies to the self-employment versus personal usage. Here is a link with more details for you: Cellphone Expenses
