Will I receive stimulus check or direct debit

I filed my 2019 tax and provided routing and account info on my 1040, but if I owe this year. Do I qualify for direct deposit, or am I punished because I didn't receive a refund and now will receive a check. I'm confused with IRS site saying all need to do is file and provide bank info, is there more that will disqualify you for direct deposit.

If you filed your 2019 tax return, and owed monies to the IRS, and paid by providing your bank account information, then the IRS has your bank account information.  

If you paid your tax liability by check however, the IRS does not have your bank account information to direct deposit your information into your bank account.  However, you can add your direct deposit information, the IRS has prepared a portal for you to use. Please see this IRS website  Get Your Payment
