Tax Forms Delivered to Wrong Address by USPS

I took two pieces of tax related mail to the local post office to be mailed by Certified Mail;

• one, form 3520, to an IRS PO Box in Utah and the other
• a MA filing (with a refund due) from my wife, to MA Dept of Revenue PO Box
• both envelopes and Certified Mail slips were filled-out correctly. I have the receipts.

On checking the USPS on-line tracking site, I see that each piece of mail is going to the other address:

• USPS has delivered the Utah mail to the MA PO Box and
• the MA addressed mail is on it’s way to Utah!

I do not know what to do. I'm concerned about potential penalties if the IRS and/or MA DoR do not get their documents!

Hopefully when the errors are corrected in they will realize that the returns were miss delivered. You just have to wait and see.

Many thanks, very much appreciated - sound advice; I will wait a couple of weeks. 

The USPS has, as yet, not responded to me. Hopefully the IRS will redirect to MA DoR and visa-versa.
