TT Software implies text maybe required at top of form 1040X.  Where do I find if my amendment requires such text?  And, what do I enter to satisfy that requirement?

The IRS wants an explanation for what changes were made in the amended return.  TurboTax will present a "field" for you to enter the text.  You type in what changed there. 

For example, you could explain that you added another form, corrected a number entered incorrectly, added a dependent, claimed a deduction or credit for which you were eligible, or received an IRS notice requesting an amended return.  Basically you are telling the IRS why you needed to file the amended return.
