Serious Concerns Regarding SBTGP Refund Processing and Customer Service

I have been a loyal TurboTax user for the past eight years. However, my experience this year has been extremely disappointing. When the IRS sent my refund to your partner bank, there was no issue deducting their fees—even with supposed "suspicious activity." Yet, when it came to depositing the remaining funds into my account, my refund was withheld, causing significant inconvenience.

After researching the situation, I was surprised to find that this has happened to many others as well. Unfortunately, this reflects very poorly on TurboTax. I will not be using your services moving forward.

According to the information provided, it may take 10–12 weeks for the refund to be returned to the IRS, at which point I’ll be issued a paper check. That timeline is unacceptable. Direct deposit takes minutes—not months. The notion that your bank can immediately deduct funds while delaying the return of the remainder raises serious ethical concerns.

I’m deeply disappointed with the level of customer service and the excessive fees, especially given the lack of transparency and accountability. I genuinely feel for all the individuals who have had similar experiences.

One final question: Why is it acceptable for your bank to take its portion of my refund under the guise of "suspicious activity," but not acceptable for me to receive the rest of my refund?

Serious Concerns Regarding SBTGP Refund Processing and Customer Service

I myself seem to have issues receiving my Federal Tax refund from SBTGP. I chose to use my federal refund to pay for the filing by TurboTax. I received my state refund earlier last month but have yet to see my federal return. The IRS stated that my federal refund was accepted on April 23, 2025, and issued to my bank on May 29, 2025. I called my financial institution, and they show no pending deposits including no pending deposits from tax return. I then called the IRS back and they stated that they released the funds and to contact my tax preparer. I contacted TurboTax and they stated since I used my federal return to pay for TurboTax, that it is sent to a 3rd party, SBTGP. I contacted SBTGP to let me know about the status of my federal tax return and they stated that they have not received any funds from the IRS. I contacted the IRS again, and again they stated that the refund has been issued and released. When contacting SBTGP, they continue to brush off my concerns, continually telling me to contact the IRS. TurboTax and the IRS confirmed that the routing number and account number for the deposit was correct, and so the IRS has escalated this to investigate where the funds are. So here I am, 45 days after the federal tax was accepted and 6 days since the IRS released the funds and still no federal tax refund and no idea of when it will arrive. This is totally unacceptable and if this isn't resolved soon, I will look into a class action lawsuit for unfair business practices, especially since SBTGP has not been looked on fondly by other TurboTax users so far.
