Sched E- Pg 2 only is appearing in a return for this year, referencing an old/obsolete Estate Tax id, with no amounts or relevant info. Please advise on how to remove.

An irrelevant Schedule E - Page 2 only is appearing in a final, ready-to-file return for 2021 tax year, referencing an old/obsolete Estate Tax id of a family member, with no amounts or relevant info.  In a prior tax year (years ago), that Estate Tax id was needed, but not in several years.  And we cannot find a way to remove it from this year's return.  Please advise.

If you have a Schedule E that is no longer active, you should first be sure that there are no assets left that should have been cleared out.  You should return to the Interview and go back through it.  If there are any open items select the interview question Tell us more about this asset and select The item was sold, retired, stolen ... Clear any items out.  Schedule E will be cleared next year.

If there were no assets and all entries were previously cleared you can delete the form.

  1. On the menu bar on the left that shows.

    1. My Info

    2. Federal

    3. State

    4. Review

    5. File

  2. Select Tax Tools

  3. On the drop-down select Tools

  4. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form

  5. This will give you all of the forms in your return

  6. Scroll down to the form you want to delete

  7. Select the Form

  8. Click on Delete.

  9. Always use extreme caution when deleting information from your tax return.  There could be unintended consequences.
