Refund status still processing

I have been stuck with the same status “still processing “ topic 152, which only tells me that it is being reviewed. It had been stuck in the same status for about 8 days. I am currently holding to speak to someone with IRS and holding time is going over an hour and a half. Does this long of reviewing usually end up in a refund rejection? I have never had this problem before and worrying of how how long of a delay this will take.

TT refund dates are just estimates, based on the customary IRS goal of 21 days.  But the IRS is seriously backlogged, in part because of all the extra filings just for the stimulus.  In fact, they are still processing several million 2019 returns leftover from the COVID shutdown.  In addition, WMR has been erratic and unreliable, but the bars usually disappear after 21 days, even if it's still processing.  Lots of folks are waiting, so please continue to be patient.
