Irs stated they found an error with my return why would turbo tax let me submit it if it had an error?

It's very much possible that the IRS discovered an error during its own processing that TurboTax was not & could not be aware of, such as a missing W-2 or 1099. Beyond that I can't say; no one here can look at your return.
