Can we skip amending 2017 and carryover capital loss to 2018 from 2016? We had a capital loss in 2016, amended our 2016 to claim the loss and have carryover from it.

You should amend the 2017 return before carrying your loss to 2018.  There could be factors in your 2017 return that affect the amount of your carryover to 2018.

Hi KittyM, thank you for the response.  Can we send in an amended 2017 at the same time as sending in 2018?  I am tired of having to do taxes twice a year and always being a year behind.

Hi KittyM, Can you tell me where in the 2017 TurboTax software I need to go to enter the capital loss carryover?  When I enter the recommended "carryover" in the search, it just keeps searching and comes up with nothing.

Cannot figure out how to know where for sure to enter the proper information.  When I look in the Forms area rather than the step-by-step, I see where there are carryover worksheets, but am not sure what is being asked for.....
