Amending 1040 due to Dependent included in error

Hello,

When filing my 1040 I had included my 23 year on son as a dependent.  While going through the all the questions to determine if he was eligible to be considered as a dependent, Turbo Tax determined he was not eligible to be included as a dependent.  However, Turbo Tax did not then remove him as a dependent nor remind me to remove him as a dependent.  So he was left on my return and I now need to file an Amended 1040.  I am using Home & Business edition for Turbo Tax.

I am not sure how to file the Amendment.  Can you assist me?

First, make sure you really need to amend and that your 2020 return was accepted in TurboTax Online or paper-filed through the mail. You can't amend a return that hasn't been filed yet.

When you're ready to amend, find your situation below and follow the instructions.

TurboTax CD/Download

Once you are in the program, go back to the Personal Info section and delete him.
