Prior year 2022 return: I have file, but will not open, getting error 119. Can you tell me what the problem may be? I need to transfer data inorder to prepare the 2023 return.

Yes, you will get an Error 119 message if you try to open your .tax2022 file by simply clicking, or if you are trying to open it in the TurboTax program, the file may be corrupt. 

 

To use the .tax2022 file to transfer to your 2023:

 

 

  1. Open the TurboTax Home & Business program. 
  2. Select Start a New Return.
  3. The program will start looking for your 2022 file. If it doesn't find it, select Browse and use the file explorer window the locate your 2022 file. 
  4. Once you find it, highlight it and select Open in the lower right corner.
