My status for my Indiana state says printed? Does that mean I need to print something and send it in the mail? What do I need to print? Where do I send this to?

A "return status" of "printed" means the return has not been efiled.   How did you intend to file the state return?  Did you want to efile it, or do you plan to print, sign, and mail it?   We can tell you how to open the return back up to change the filing method to finish efiling it, if desired.

Did you already efile the Federal return?  If so, has it been accepted?

Yes I filed my federal already and already got my return for it. How do I change it for my state?

Here's how to go back and efile the state return:

NOTE:  Since you already filed the Federal return, do NOT make any changes in the Federal side.  You can still make edits to the state return since it has not been filed.

  • Log in and go to "Your Tax Returns & Documents."  Click that line or the word SHOW to expand.
  • Under 2018 choose "Add a State."  (you don't really add one; that's just to get the return to open up.)
  • Once the return is open, you can to to the STATE TAXES tab if you need to work on your state return any.
  • Review your state return before filing in case anything has updated since you last worked on it.
  • Go through the REVIEW tab to be sure all is still in order in regards to the error check, etc.
  • Then go through the FILE tab and choose to efile only the state return.
  • Then be sure you continue all the way to the end to the final screen and click a button "Transmit My Returns Now".
NOTE:  Do NOT use this method to open a return to make changes/edits to an already-filed return (one that has actually been mailed or efiled.)   If you later need to make changes to an already-filed return, you have to go through the formal amending process, and your return must start off exactly as originally filed.

@barnett_madison
I added a reminder in one of the steps above to be sure to review your state return before filing if it's been a while since you worked on it, in case there have been any program updates that might have changed anything in it.
