I received an email saying we need to Amend our taxes. But everywhere I look it claims the IRS is going to automatically give refunds for the unemployment credit.

Do not amend now.   You have three years from the date you filed to file an amendment.   So, in the unlikely event that you do have to amend, you have plenty of time to do so.   Most people will NOT need to amend.   Why those emails were sent out to everyone, I don't know.   The IRS will be sending out the additional refunds in the coming months.   If you are owed anything after the IRS completes the project, you can amend then.   But until they have issued all of the refunds and additional refunds, I would not further complicate the matter with the IRS.
