I received a 1099g regarding an overpayment do I have to amend my taxes
State income tax refunds are only taxable income if you itemized your deductions in the previous year.
If you did not itemize your deductions (file Schedule A) in 2015, you are not required to report your state refund this year and will not have to do anything further.
