Refund Processing Time varies with how you filed.

  • E-filed tax returns with direct deposit – E-file with direct deposit is the fastest way to get your federal tax refund. The IRS states that 9 out of 10 e-filed tax returns with direct deposit will be processed within 21 days of IRS e-file acceptance.
  • Also, for those taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS expects refunds to begin to hit bank accounts starting on Feb 27, 2018.
  • Mailed paper returns – Refund processing time is 6 to 8 weeks from the date the IRS receives your tax return.

No one can say exactly when you will get your refund but you can track the status of your return and refund at https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If you chose Direct Deposit you have already selected the fastest way to receive your refund.

Other reasons it may take longer are explained in the FAQ below.
