The IRS generally does not accept faxes. Were you responding to a request from the IRS for more information which they said you can fax to them and they sent you a fax number to use?
If that wasn't what happened, it is likely the IRS never received what you faxed them.
Yes, the letter had the fax info in it. Thats the only reason I knew you could fax
The IRS is apparently not processing mailed returns at the current time. Not sure whether that also applies to faxed information previously received or not. Are you able to track it on the IRS web site:

As soon as they told me I needed additional info they took down my expected date. It just says "processing". Has been saying that since about Feb.25th
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it since the IRS is not even answering phones right now.
