How will I know my return was accepted

My ex husband just informed me that he claimed our children but I already claimed them. Will this affect my return?

How will I know my return was accepted

You can track the status of your return by visiting: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

I your husband's return was accepted first, your return will be rejected. Vice versa.

Whichever parent is rejected due to this, will need to either remove the children to be able to re Efile, or mail their return let the IRS investigate the situation, then IRS will make a decision on who can claim the children and the other parent's return will be adjusted.

Either way you can mail your return in. Your return can still be processed and you can also still receive direct deposit with mailing.

The IRS will then decide who can claim the child based on qualifying guidelines, and the other parent's return will be modified by the IRS.
