If you select "pay my fees from my refund", then your SSN is used to open a temporary bank account with SBTPG ("Tax Products Group.")  The IRS direct deposits the refund in the temporary bank account, SBTPG deducts your fees plus a $40 extra service charge, and then sends the rest of the money to your regular bank account.
