Direct deposit refund never deposited

I asked for a direct deposit of my 2024 taxes and the IRS says it was deposited into my account on April 2025. However, no refund was ever given. The IRS says it is TurboTax that made the error and the money went into someone else's account. How do I get my money??

The IRS doesn't have a clue. TurboTax never receives your refund. If you have fees and/or an advance to be repaid, the refund is sent to a third-party bank. There, the refund is split between you and TurboTax. Your portion is then sent to the account on your return. 

Contact support to find out the bank that processed the refund. You'll need to contact them to follow up. By the way, in the future, don't wait 8 or 9 months to follow up on a missing refund. Check the IRS website for its status. You should get it within 2 weeks of the website showing it was sent, if 3rd-party processing is necessary, otherwise sooner.
