"Payment came out of bank account"

Came out of bank account when--at the time of filing or several weeks later?    If a debit happened several weeks later, it was likely this:

If you chose to pay your TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, and if the refund is delayed at the IRS, TurboTax would go ahead and debit your bank account, so is that what you meant?    If so, only the IRS will know what all they are doing with your return.   Before phoning them, see what is displayed at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool.   Is there any message there?

Or if that's not it, and by "payment came out of bank account", did you pay upfront at the time of filing with credit/debit card, and if nothing is showing at the IRS WMR.  If so, then check to be sure the return was successfully filed.   Log in and at the Tax Home, look to see if it shows as accepted, rejected, printed, started, ready to mail, or what?

When using the IRS WMR tool:

  • Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN, and filing status.
  • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.
  • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount to enter, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.
