1099-MISC

Can I be considered self employed if I am a school teacher and I received a W2 from my school and a 1099 MISC form with the amount in Box 3 that I was paid by another school for part-time teaching?

1099-MISC

You would be employed for the W2 income, ans self-employed for the 1099-MISC income.  For the part-time teaching, you would have to complete a Schedule C and pay self-employment tax, but you may also be able to deduct expenses related to the part-time teaching only.  You will definitely want to keep very good records because they are so closely related.  For more information see Am I considered self-employed? - TurboTax® Support
