It actually runs fine on Ventura (MacOS 13.4.1), but not everyone can run that OS.

Same issue with MacOS 11.7.8, but works fine with 13.4. The problem is that the person I was helping has a computer stuck with Big Sur macOS.

Yes, similar difficulties started today. It only impacts certain MacOS versions.
