Where do i enter my ip pin number in turbo tax

A 6-digit PIN is an Identity Protection PIN (also called an IP PIN) that the IRS provides for victims of ID theft whose cases they are working with. That is entered in a completely different program area--not in the efile section.

The regular Efiling PIN is 5 digits and will be encountered during the process of efiling.

If you have a 6-digit IP PIN to enter, here's where to enter it.

·         FEDERAL TAXES tab. (or Personal tab in Home and Business)

·         Then sub tab "Other Tax Situations."

·         Scroll down to "Other Return Info".

·         Find subtopic "Identity Protection PIN", and click START.

If you are asking about the IP PIN (Identity Protection), this pin is issued to taxpayers after reporting identity theft to the IRS. Please see this IRS FAQ.

Normally, the IP PINs are mailed out each December of use in the coming months. If you don't have the letter (it's sent only by mail), please go to this IRS address to see about getting the PIN online.

Open up your return, and go to Federal (or if you have Turbotax Home and Business, go to Personal).  Select "Other Tax Situations", and under "Other Return Info" select Identity Protection PIN.  You can enter your PIN number there.  I don't know why this info is so hard to find within TurboTax!!

I had forgotten I signed up for the IP PIN and had my federal and state return rejected. The error email said to go back to TT and it would walk me through correcting the error. It didn't do that; it just wanted to e-file again without changing anything. It would be nice, since TT knew what the error was, if it took me to the appropriate page to enter the IP PIN. Just sayin'

Hi,

I am having the same problem also, I use Turbo H&B but when I click on Personal it only says You & Your Family.

I tried to enter my IP Pin on the forms itself but it would not let me so is there another way?

Do I have to just File and wait for it to be rejected to enter it then ?
