To enter your 1099-MISC for a settlement, please follow the instructions below:

1. Open or continue your return, if you're not already in it.
2. Search for 1099-misc and select the Jump-to link.
3. Enter your 1099-MISC.
4. Describe the reason for this 1099-MISC as Settlement Award.
5. Answer This money was for a lawsuit settlement on the screen Does one of these uncommon situations apply?
   1. If for back wages, choose yes and enter the amount for back wages. 
   2. If not for back wages, choose no. 
6. Answer the remaining on-screen question.
