When to issue a 100-Nec for work done on my rental property

I am the owner of a rental property. I needed some brick work done to repair the property. I hired an independent contractor--a company--that does such work. Did I need to issue a 1099-Nec to that company for the work? I also hired a contractor to remodel the kitchen in the rental property because mice were entering the property. Do I need to send them a 1099-Nec?   Also, if I did need to provide the 1099-NEC, what do I do if the deadline to issue has passed. Thank you.

It depends. Any business that makes nonemployee compensation payments totaling $600 or more to at least one payee or withholds federal income tax from a nonemployee’s payment, must file Form 1099-NEC. to report those payments and withholding.

Generally, payers need to file these forms by January 31 and have no automatic 30-day extensions to file unless the business meets certain hardship conditions.

You can use TurboTax to file Form 1099-NEC.
