The first time I filed as Self-Employed was for 2020, and I didn't really understand how it worked then and I don't understand how it works now. All of my knowledge is basically from what TurboTax has prompted me to do and tiny snippets of advice from people in my field. I'm a comic book artist and live in IL, and I have multiple questions:
1) I am not officially registered as a "business" because I'm individual, but I can't tell if I'm supposed to. Do I have to? Will it make things easier for me?
2) I don't understand the process of making estimated quarterly taxes throughout the year instead of all at the end - I often have no idea how much money I'm going to be making in a year because I have to jump between jobs, and often I go for stretches where I'm not making any money at all.
3) When am I legally qualified for unemployment?
