Self employed and ira contribution

I am married filing jointly and my husband maxed out his IRA contribution from his employer this year.  I am self employed.  Can I also make the max $8,000 contribution to my IRA this year as well?

Self employed and ira contribution

You can contribute 8,000 if age 50 or older and you had at least that amount in earnings. You can also contribute to a SEP IRA as well.
