Schedule se

Notary fees are exempt from Social Security as you seem to understand.  The Business Code should be 541100 in your Schedule C.

 

  • Income from notary fees is not subject to self-employment tax, but it still must be reported to the IRS on Schedule C (Form 1040); see 'Income and Losses Not Included in Net Earnings From Self-Employment'

Fees received for services performed as a notary public. If you had no other income subject to SE tax, enter “Exempt—Notary” on Schedule 2 (Form 1040), line 4. Don’t file Schedule SE.  

  • In TurboTax Desktop you can handle this in Forms. Once in Forms you should enter the description noted above and do not file the Schedule SE.  To delete the Schedule SE use the link below.
