I received a Transition Stipend from Teach for America - they included the amount on a 1099-Misc - is there a way to keep this from being taxed ? Right now TT is taxing.

The stipend is taxable and should be reported as Other Income on your Form 1040.  In case you need to review your entry:

  1. Open or continue your return
  2. Select Search, enter 1099-misc
  3. Select Jump to 1099-misc
  4. For description, enter Transition Stipend from Teach for America
