Can I have a tax adjustment for the year 2022? I had a grant in 2022 from my job but the company gave me a 1099-MISC when the right document to file was the 1099-NEC

Now the IRS says I owe them over $2,000 how can I make that adjustment?

You need to prepare an amended return for 2022 to delete the Form 1099-MISC entry and enter the Form 1099-NEC. Then, mail that return in along with the letter you got from the IRS and instruct them to adjust the tax due based on the amended return.
