Should I get a credit union loan to pay off a credit card?

That makes sense if the interest on the loan is less than the interest that you are paying on the credit card balance.
Possibly. It will likely lower your credit score at first. It's really only a good thing to do if the interest rate is lower than on the cards AND if you won't be running up the credit cards again buying more stuff.
If you can leave the credit cards open with zero balances and not use them, that will help your credit score in the short term. But if it will be too tempting to you to run up the balances again, close them for your long term credit health.
