Covered call losses to offset long term capital gains on underlying stock

Hello,

I own several shares of Microsoft MSFT - held for over 20 years.

I was doing covered calls on MSFT and had to buy back some calls with MFST shooting up this spring. I have some realized losses from buying back the covered calls - short term capital losses.

If I sell some MSFT stock (long term capital gain) to help exit the options positions - can I offset the Long term capital gains with the short term losses on the options?

Or could a wash sale issue be triggered because the options were bought back for a loss while I am selling shares of the stock?
