How do I forcefully uninstall TurboTax for Windows?
Sometimes uninstalling TurboTax Desktop doesn't completely remove the program. If you need to, you can forcefully uninstall TurboTax to ensure all TurboTax files are removed. This doesn't remove your data.
First, uninstall TurboTax.
Then, view your Hidden Items in File Explorer
Right-click the Windows Start icon.
Select File Explorer.
Select View menu.
Check the Hidden Items box.
Please remember to undo this step when you are done to re-hide sensitive Windows system files.
Browse to the following locations and delete the subdirectories that include the 2-digit tax year you want to remove (For example, TY23 would be 2023 software).
2023vTurboTax Individual (Personal) and TurboTax Business
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\TY23
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\MSI\TY23
C:\Users{computer username}\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TY23
Prior year TurboTax (xx is the 2-digit tax year)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx\PER\MSI
C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\TYxx
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\MSI\TYxx
C:\Users{computer username}\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
Prior year TurboTax Business (xx is the 2-digit tax year)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx\BIZ\MSI
C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\TYxx
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\TurboTax\MSI\TYxx

When you're finished deleting the relevant subdirectories, Empty the Recycle Bin.
Restart your computer.
