Tax Reporting Requirements for Sweepstakes Prizes from a Social Casino

Hello,

I have a question regarding the tax reporting obligations for a company operating a sweepstake social casino in the USA. The company states that participants are solely responsible for any taxes on prizes they collect or redeem from their participation. However, the company also mentions that they do not send any tax forms (such as Form 1099-MISC) to the winners, even if the prizes exceed $600.

Given that the company operates entirely within the USA and awards prizes to participants, I am wondering:

1.Is the company legally required to issue Form 1099-MISC to participants who win prizes valued at $600 or more?

2.What are the potential consequences for the company if they fail to issue these forms?

3.Are there any specific circumstances under which a company might be exempt from issuing Form 1099-MISC for prize winnings?

4.What should participants do to ensure they are compliant with tax laws if they do not receive a 1099-MISC form from the company?

5. How should a company organize the process of issuing 1099 MISC forms, given that it is unrealistic to do it manually for large numbers of winners? Are there any tools or software solutions that can automatically generate 1099 forms for users who win more than $600?

Please answer only if you are familiar with sweepstakes social casinos like stake.us, Chumba Casino, McLuck.com, modo.us etc.

I appreciate any insights or guidance on this matter. Thank you!
