Hi, I amended my federal, PA and DC tax form. When I want to do e-file and hit print preview, I could only see 1040-X and DC tax form, but PA -40 X is missing. How to show my PA amended form ?

If the 2024 AGI from the original 2024 return is rejected, then the next step would be to resubmit the efile using a 2024 AGI of 0. The IRS uses various databases, and for this one they use a specific efile database. Sometimes the AGI doesn't work because the return was filed late in the year last year or filed on paper and took a long time to process. At other times, it's unknown why it's not matching. An AGI of 0 will often solve the problem. If the AGI of 0 doesn't work, report back, and I have another suggestion on how you can likely still efile.

I had to resubmit several times but finally it went. Not sure which correction worked but it finally did

It's surreal - I looked at last year's returns, and the first time it was rejected I went to the IRS's own website, downloaded my transcript and return from last year, and the number I entered is exactly the same one they show. Yet the turbotax filing has been rejected twice because the IRS says I've got last year's AGI wrong. How do you fix something like this?

@mskim-er55 asked: "Is there a way to get an IP Pin number if you didn't file with Turbo Tax last year?" A 6-digit IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN) is only good for 1 calendar year, so it doesn't make any difference if you used TurboTax last year or not. Why are you asking about an IP PIN? Did you get an efile rejection specifically asking for an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)? Or do you know you need one because you have used one previously? A 6-digit IP PIN is provided by the IRS to certain victims of tax-related identity theft OR to people who voluntarily opt into the IP PIN program. If you know for certain that you are supposed to have a 6-digit IP PIN, it can be retrieved from one's IRS online account (if you have one or establish one.) IRS: Retrieve an IP PIN https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/retrieve-your-ip-pin NOTE: The IP PIN is not the same as a 5-digit signing PIN (aka Self-Select PIN). If TurboTax is asking for a 5-digit signature PIN on a page with today's date and your birth date, that 5-digit PIN can be any 5 digits of your choice, except cannot be all zeros.

I'm in the same boat. TurboTax and the IRS have been infuriatingly vague about the potential reasons for the discrepancy. Good luck.

@ skdmfsmcs1 asked: "Where do I enter estimated tax payments I made for 2025" Federal estimated payments and State estimated payments made for 2025 are both entered on the Federal side. For Online TurboTax, here's a tool that should get you directly to the section for estimated tax payments made for 2025. With the return open, go to the left menu column and click on TAX TOOLS, then the subtab TOOLS. In the Tools Center choose the blue button Topic Search. In the topic search line enter the phrase estimated tax payments without quotes. Make the selection in the list (it may already be highlighted), and either double-click it or click the GO button. Next screen is Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid. Use the subtopic Estimated Tax Payments. Choose the appropriate category and tax year you are reporting (Federal, state, local) and click START or Revisit. NOTE: Before filing, make sure your Federal estimated tax payments correctly show on the Form 1040, Line 26, and that any state estimated tax payments (if applicable) show up on your state return.

@skdmfsmcs1 asked: "Where do I enter the overpayment carried over from 2024 to 2025?" If you used TurboTax in the same Online account last year, the 2024 figure may have transferred-in automatically to the 2025 return, but you should check anyway to confirm, and if not there to enter it. To enter an overpayment from 2024 applied to 2025 in Online TurboTax: Log in and open your 2025 return, if not already open. In the left menu column click on TAX TOOLS, then TOOLS. In the Tools window click on the blue button TOPIC SEARCH. In the search box enter this phrase: applied overpayment (without quotes). In the selection list choose applied overpayment (may already be highlighted). and either double-click on it, or click the GO button. Next screen: Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid. Scroll down to 2024 Refund Applied to 2025. Then choose the type--Federal, state, local. Before filing, for a Federal overpayment make sure the payment is part of the amount shown on your Federal Form 1040, Line 26. If any state applied payment, then make sure it shows up on the state return.
