Hi,
Would anyone please be so kind to help me... In advance I would like to say that I do not have any documentation at all, particularly not Transcript so checking will NOT work, neither applying for it online. I already tried to apply online for Transcript but it didn't work. Also requesting it via mail is not possible either: it would take too long. So since there is no Transcript, W2, Paystub or whatever tax related document I could use and since contacting an employer is not on option either (I tried that too!), I have to ask here for assistance on the following problem:
I somehow managed to finalize return process and then the status was pending. After that I got error message saying:
"IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records."
Since I said there is no available tax related documentation to review, I had to crete new PIN. I was able to do that just fine but according to the error message, something is wrong with AGI. Firstly I thought that entered annual wages or/and paid amount of federal tax is incorrect. However, when I click the button similar to "Revisit" I get the following message which seems to be completely against my understanding:
"Let's try entering your 2018 AGI again. The IRS has already rejected this number: $0"
But as far as I remember (although I wish I could double check if I knew how), I didn't enter $0 anywhere. I for sure won't be able to enter exact number: exact to the last cent. This is impossible and I hope this is not required. Having said that, at least getting the correct range (but how close?) should be accepted.
Then on this same Revisit webpage is empty field where should I type in the value. Above the field says "2018 adjusted gross income (AGI)" which tells me that I need to define 2018 agi but I don't see any logical relation between this and $0 from my previous quoted text in this message. So since there is no old tax documentation (transcript w2 etc.) and no option of doing it by mail or calling employer, I'm wondering how could I calculate that value? I entered monthly salary multiplied with 12 (for 12 months) but of course it's impossible to enter exact number to the last cent or last dollar.
It may be worth to repeat that I'm around 90% sure that I didn't enter $0 anywhere.
Would anyone please be so kind to tell me mathematic or statistics (tables, charts whatever) equations and analysis how do I calculate this? Should I just enter 0? But message is saying they (or automated system) rejected it. I wish I could get Transcript but it doesn't let me. Mailing will not work for me, I had to say this again.
I already tried to check this: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/how-do-i-find-last-year-s-agi/00/25947
Thank you in advance.
If you do not have access to your 2018 tax return, and you are unable to get a transcript from the IRS, you will need to print and mail in your return.
The IRS requires that your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) from your tax return from the previous year be included with any tax return e-filed this year.
Can't request it by mail. I already tried it.
I also tried online Transcript. In rare cases I could get full account number of any of accounts (amex card number is NOT accepted!) although the work is by far harder because on credit report are usually last four digits encrypted. However, no chance to get my phone numbers to the public phone book with my name on it which is what they, due to the bug on Online Transcript website, require. Impossible to receive text message. It will never happen.
The IRS uses your prior year AGI to combat fraud.
You can find your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by:
Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number. If you:
Time-saving Tip: If what you entered is correct and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.
This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.
You suggested me form 1040 for 2018. How can I get it ONLINE? I'm unable to get Online Transcript because it requires receiving sms on phone number. I don't have the phone number associated with my name. As I said multiple times, requesting by mail is not an option. Please tell me how to get form 1040 online?
You can get a copy of your 2018 tax return, from TurboTax it will have your AGI. Follow these steps to get a copy of your prior-year tax return.
Sign in to TurboTax making sure you're using the same TurboTax account (with the same username) as in prior years.
This link How do I access a prior year return? has additional information that you may find useful
Thank you for reply but I didn't use turbotax in prior years. Tried the value 0 but it did not work.
Please if someone could tell me where to get AGI either online or over the phone or form1040 (@CatinaT1 said AGI is there). Already tried the luck to call some random IRS phone numbers but I didn't get it. All I got was exactly what I was afraid the most to be told: offer to get it by mail. I already gave up on online transcript, its impossible to get verification sms on verifiable phone number associated to my name. Don't have such phone number.
You can call the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center for help. They do not use the "1040" phone number and may be able to assist you over the phone. Use this link Taxpayer Assistance Center Office Locator it find the phone number and address of the IRS Assistance Center closest to your location.
1040 is form and not phone number. On that form is, as the other person above said who replied, AGI value.
We are still misunderstanding each other. I need AGI online or over the phone for 2018. Being told on the phone where location center is won't anyhow help. I gave up trying to get transcript online because of the phone number issue explained in one of my previous messages typed above. However, somehow I really need AGI online or over the phone. I tried to call multiple phone numbers but those that I tried just offerred me to send transcript by mail. Which other phone number should I try to get AGI exact value either over the phone or instructions how to get it online (not via online transcript)?
I have found that I get the best results from the local offices.

Thank you for your reply but I will try to repeat once again and to be more understandable, since previously I may have not used my words correctly, I will use bold and underlined text this time:
I am looking to get correct AGI (2018) value either ONLINE (excluding online transcript) or directly over the PHONE (value to be told over the phone).
Hopefully this time I asked my question appropriately. If anyone can please help, I would appreciate it a lot.
The simple answer is that you cannot get any persons AGI over the phone or Online. This is secured information and the process that it has to go through is to protect the taxpayer.
Sorry if you didn't use Turbo Tax last year we can't help you get it. You need to find a copy of your 1040 Return wherever you did it. If zero doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return. The AGI is only on your 1040 return line 7. You can not get it from your W2 or employer.

You either look at your 2018 tax return for the 2018 AGI or you access your 2018 TurboTax online tax return for the AGI or you get a transcript of your federal tax return from the IRS for the AGI, that is it.
The 2018 AGI is on the 2018 Federal tax return you filed Form 1040 Line 7
To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on View adjusted gross income (AGI)
Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
If you did not file a 2018 federal tax return or the 2018 federal tax return was filed late in 2019 or early in 2020, the enter a 0 (zero) for the 2018 AGI.
If this is rejected then you will have to print and mail the tax return.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online...
Ok I understand you are saying I cannot get AGI value over the phone or online. Let me ask differently then: How can I get 1040 over the phone or online so I will check on that electronic document the AGI on my own?
I'm unable to get verification sms to phone number registered on my name for online transcript purpose. This is impossible. No one could do that.

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
Since you are having so much trouble finding your 2018 tax return and AGI why don't you just print and mail your tax return? You don't need the AGI to mail it. Is there a reason you can't mail it? Like no printer?
How to print and mail your return,

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.
using a flash drive you can print at a friend's place, the library or at Staples for only pennies a page. That's less than the postage for US Mail.
Can be this form sent (after filling it) via email or in even via fax AND return (2018) delivered to me electronicaly via email?
@VolvoGirl
Because if I mail it then they will mail the AGI back to me but I said multiple times I need only online or over the phone delivery. This is because when they mail anything physically, they block the forwarding feature from one to another USA address and I cannot call USPS/UPS/Fedex to request forwarding to different address. I'm not saying employee wouldn't want to enable the forwarding but the problem is he or she wouldn't have a possibility to request mail forwarding because of blockage functionality on the source side (IRS). There is no way to get anything delivered by mail to address other than with the name associated address. I don't have any such documentation as W2, 1099,...
@Susanne123 If you are referring the Form 4506 request for a federal tax return, that can only be mailed to you by the IRS to the address you indicate on the form. Be aware that it may take up to 75 days for the IRS to process this request.
So can anyone please help me with my original questions? Still waiting for appropriate reply matching what I'm asking...
Susanne we are saying to forget about getting the AGI. You do not need it. You should just print and mail your 2019 return and YOU mail it TO the IRS. You don't need to get anything from them.
I found my credit report. How could I use it to calculate AGI 2018?
I don't have 2019 (or 2018) return.

A credit report cannot be used for the Adjusted Gross Income on a US Federal Tax Return.
