Yes you can!

You don't have to but you can if you want to.

There is no record of your rejected return with the IRS.

How?

You will need to go back to My Info.

To get back in, go to add a state or amend.  You will not do either of these, this is only a way back in to work on it. This keeps people from accidentally changing their return without doing it on purpose.

You can try clearing and starting over but I don’t think you can if you tried to file.  Did you pay any fees?  If you are in the Free Edition and haven’t paid and can’t start over you could leave this account and abandon it then start a brand new account.  You can use the same email address for 5 accounts.   How to start another return in the Online version      <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288574">https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288574</a>

Yes you can. You would start by clicking on "Fix My Return" to get to the options to clear your return and start over from scratch. See our FAQ on how you can Clear and start over.

Can I refile my taxes. I'm a widow and my husband pass away in 2014 so should I file married or single?

I am not sure why you would need to "refile".

If your husband passed in 2014, then for tax year 2019, you would file as single.

If you made a typo and your husband passed in 2019, then you would file tax year 2019 as "Married Filing Jointly".

Please accept our condolences for your loss.

If you have submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you cannot erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online.

Using the TurboTax online editions for tax year 2021 and you are accessing the online tax return, My Info is located on the left side of the online program screen.

I want to fix my refund 2020 rejected

@Jorge8805   What rejected?  Your 2020 return or the 2020 AGI you entered to efile 2021?  If your 2020 return rejected last year you have to print and mail it now.  Why did it reject?

If your 2021 return rejected for the 2020 AGI, ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2020 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

My boyfriend & I are not married, but claim one child each of our children with no issues for the past several years.  Turbo this time around made mention of adding a dependent at $0 dependent care for a dependent that is not being claimed, which we did, but one of us entered the SSN for one of the children not claimed & one of us left the SSN clear.  Now it's creating issues on my boyfriend's filing as it was rejected twice for the same thing, but we can't get to the section to remove the child dependent to fix this error code 2441.  It's not even showing the other child to be removed.  He's already paid & submitted the efile twice so we're being told we can't clear the form to start over to remove.  Not sure what to do here at this point especially since he's already paid for the return, or what would happen if we attempted to clear the form.

If the return has been rejected multiple times, and the issue involves using the SSN of a dependent appearing on another return, it may no longer be possible to e-file the return. Instead, the return as completed using TurboTax can be printed and filed by mail.

See this TurboTax help article for more information and instructions.

Will money owed to the irs be taken more than once since I have to keep going in to fix my e-file due to it being rejected? It’s asking me to put in card info again and again each time I amend the e-file and I am afraid it will send more than what’s owed to the irs

@Chasb07

Anytime your return is rejected, and you fix it and then re-e-file, you would not be charged more than once. However, if your return keeps getting rejected, you can print your return and file by mail.

Why did it reject?

If you haven't filed, registered or paid you can try to clear and start over
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-clear-and-start-over-in-turbotax-online/00/26444

Or if it doesn't let you clear and you haven't paid or filed you could just start a new account. Online is only good for 1 return per account. But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts. How to start another return in the Online version
