There’s no doubt about it, education tax benefits can make a huge

typically offers the largest tax break. But if you don’t qualify for
that, there’s always the Lifetime Learning Cr...read more
Background. I have had 529 plans for my daughters for 25 years and have
used Turbo Tax for about 30. The last 10 years I have entered qualified
education expenses from 529 withdrawals into Turbo Tax with no big
issues. This year, I input the 1099-Q i...read more

where one can put expenses for room and board to offset 529
distributions (as reported on the 1099Q form).2. I co...read more

When I enter the 1099-Q info, TT is saying that we have $8500 of taxable
income, but it clearly has not taken into account nearly $13K of room
and board (because there has been no prompt to enter the room and
board). All 529 distributions were to my ...read more

expenses for non-dependent? Should...read more

Posting my complaint about not being prompted to enter room and board
expenses to offset 529 withdrawals. When is Intuit going to fix this?
Used TT for 30 years and this is ridiculous! This will lead to people
paying taxes and penalties.
