It depends.
The IRS issues a lot of refunds within 21 days, but it could take longer.
IRS processing time and refund status
The online link is your best option to track your refund. I have attached a link with more answers from the IRS as to why your refund may be taking longer to process.
Also, be aware, the IRS operations are limited during the Covid-19 pandemic. Attached is a link with more information as to what departments are available to contact at the moment.
Please see the attached for more specific information as it applies to your particular state.
I'm not the only one I know who is waiting this long. I understand how to track my refund, etc. I am just wondering if others are having the same issue.
I’m having the same issue. Got accepted on 2/10/2020 and it still says still processing. This has never happened to me before, and i don’t understand how i got my stimulus check before my refund when all my banking is the same
Me too! I have a friend who filed hers on Jan 31 - crickets = nothing from the IRS. It's just a relief to know there are others out there too, but frustrating that there is no news about it.
Nope you’re not alone girl lol. I just don’t understand what’s going on and with everything that’s goin on you can’t even call and talk to a live person. It’s frustrating but i have been patient im praying that things work out for the both of us
Mine was accepted on 3/9/20 and it's still being processed. Haven't received a letter or phone call. Can't reach anyone at IRS.
This was my first time filing in 2019. 2018 and years prior, I was a dependent while attending college. Unfortunately, I haven't received a stimulus check, because I'm still waiting for my 2019 tax return to be approved since 3/9/20.
Im right with you on that one .it’s been almost 8 weeks for me also . Of course no stimulus money either .. so frustrating
See same here , my taxes still processing and I filed on 2/5 So not a word since n no stimulus .
maybe we will all get luck n get it all at one time lol. Wishful thinking I guess

Yes mine finally posted around may 12th they told me it was being processed on may 7th but i finally got it. Praying for the same outcome for you
I filed my taxes ELECTRONICALLY on April 17. It's now June 4. Seems like a LONG time!? Says it's still being processed. So annoyed.
April 8, eFile here. Still processing. Looks like its going to take 3 months based on some people's comments.

I am also at 7 weeks waiting. It seems if it’s not a 1040 easy return it’s further delayed.
@UrbanFarms No such thing anymore as a 1040EZ. It has nothing to do with your tax return form--everyone who filed a 2019 tax return filed on a Form 1040.
Waiting is frustrating—refunds are taking longer in many cases. These are not normal times. It is not possible for TurboTax to speed up the IRS for you. They are short staffed; and they are processing millions of tax returns at the same time that they have been burdened with the task of processing millions of stimulus checks.
IRS phone lines supported by customer service representatives for both taxpayers and tax professionals are not staffed at this time. To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Yes I didn’t mean a 1040EZ but an easy return. They are all 1040 but some stop there and some have things attached like a Schedule C which mine is.
I was just referring to the fact that many of my friends who are not self employed have not been waiting as long as I have.
Thanks for the info. I’ve gotten all this info everywhere and I’m not hear asking Intuit to help but as an Intuit business costumer I enjoyed hearing I was not alone in this.
Thanks!
@UrbanFarms I feel that. I know someone that filed after me and received their refund. I'm self employed and I'm on Week 11 of waiting for my return. I wish the IRS would have some type of update on the fact that refunds are delayed... but nothing.
Once your return has been accepted by the IRS, the refund process is completely under the control of the IRS. The IRS says that most refunds would be issued within 21 days. But some returns need more processing and refunds will take longer, especially during these Covid-19 times when some IRS agents still work remotely.
Please read this IRS FAQ for more information.
This IRS document outlines IRS operations during Covid-19 times.
Please be patient, the situation will get better soon as some IRS agents are returning to their desks. You can check the status of your refund at this IRS web portal.
@MinhT1 Yes, we understand - we are just comparing notes. You don't need to keep reposting the same reply.
How do I find status of my refund. I try to call the toll free number but it say they are busy. I got a text stating that it was accepted on 2-12-2021
Here are some links to try to look into your refund:
IRS is very busy right now.
On top of processing 2020 tax returns, they are also trying to put the new law into the Tax Code and issue the Third Stimulus Check, notify all the software developers on how to make changes to their software once they have each part into the IRC, and they are also still processing Paper filed 2019 tax returns.
Here is the message from irs.gov:

Yes, I experiencing the exact same issue. It has been 8 weeks for me. I've called the irs 2 times now each time I was on hold fpr 2.5 hours before anyone answered. And they had no more information to offer. They literally said "idk why it would be taking so long." And to call back again if it doesn't show up the following week. I called back and they said the same thing again. On the "wheres my refund" app my progress bar has disappeared and it just says "your refund is still processing, the website will update with new info blah blah blah." Its been that way since the 22nd day after I filed. Theres no help available.
