Dear AmyC,   I have tried to review and interpret the links you provided and am still confused by what I can or cannot legally deduct on my 2020 taxes.  I was caught up in a Publisher's Clearing House fraud and lost a considerable amount of cash.  I have reported the fraud/loss to the FBI, FTC, USPS IG, and local authorities at the State level.  Can you explain/elaborate if I can or cannot legally deduct this cash loss on my 2020 taxes and what the procedure is for doing so and where on my 1040 return please?   Thanks much for your help! ...
