I got IRS appointment for ITIN of my spouse only on 25th April. Therefore, I would have to file an extension. However, TurboTax web based Easy Extension does not allow to file an extension without spouse's ITIN/SSN (in case of joint filing). As per Form 4868 insttructions, if ITIN is not available then “ITIN TO BE REQUESTED” to be entered in place of SSN/ITIN. Why doesn't TurboTax follow the instructions of IRS.
