Why does TurboTax Online now say I can't use it to prepare my taxes as of 11/1/22? I bought it back in April.

I'm a little late finishing my taxes, but I paid $179 for TurboTax Online Self-Employed w/ Assist Review, and now it seems like I can't finish my taxes with it.  Now the site is saying I need to buy a desktop version for another $120?

Since you paid, ask Customer Support for a desktop copy.

You are a lot late.  Online is now closed and it's too late to efile a return.  Call and ask to get the download Desktop program to finish and mail your return. You can download your return as a .tax2021 file to use in the Desktop program.

Save the tax file

Switch to Desktop

You can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info.

To continue in the desktop version see this…….

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax2021file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).

And....you will not be able to e-file.  E-filing using TurboTax is now closed for 2021 returns so you will have to file by mail.  Expect a wait of six to nine months (or longer) for the IRS to process your mailed return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
