Can I deduct the Deductable I pay before my insurance kicks in?
Best answer by Texas Roger

Yes you can deduct medical expenses paid out of pocket that were not reimbursed by insurance. There is a high threshold to get any tax breaks from medical expenses. You can only deduct the amount of expenses in excess of 10% of your AGI (7.5% if 65 or over). To get a tax break that deductible amount when added to your other itemized deductions must be more than the standard deduction.
