I have purchased a new 2020 Turbotax Deluxe. I will not run and I'd like to online download a new version. I have my key; where can I download the product?

Why won't it run?  Where does it stop?  Windows or Mac?  Does your computer meet the system requirements?

It has failed in multiple spots with an error screen that is Opps or something like that.  Most recently failed after "Starting New Return".  I've sent in at least 3 reports on this form.

I meet all requirements and have used Turbotax 2019 on this computer.  

I think the cd is contaminated.  I just want a download, but when I try my authentication code says it can't be used again.  I used to load the cd.

Help.  I don't know how to actually talk to a human.

Oh so you did get it installed but can't start a new return.  Please let us know if customer service fixes it and how.  Oh and let me know if they give you the download or a new code to download it.  I have a similar problem saying the code has been used.

Hi VolvoGirl, 

I've tried everything I can to get a download to work and the authentication is denied.  No one seems to know how I can actually talk to an Intuit human, so I'm going on my theory that the cd is contaminated.  I'm returning it for a new one.

From my perspective there is no customer service.  At least I can't find any human to talk to.  But not to worry, I've returned it for a new CD.   Thanks

First try support.  They were closed on the weekend but should be open now.

I have Mac desktop computer.  I paid for the deluxe download for Mac.  It will not let me download it to work.

I've also purchased a new 2020 TurboTax Deluxe CD for Windows that will not launch. I have spent more than 7 hours online and on the phone with 4 different technicians trying to solve the problem. The 2nd person I talked with could not get the software to work after she did a desktop remote onto my Computer. We removed and reinstalled the software only to come up with the same error message, "Sorry an error has occurred and TurboTax must close", no error codes are generated. This technician then told me that she would waive the fee for me to complete my Tax return with the Online version and all I had to do was go complete it...... 3 Hours later after I finished doing my Federal and State taxes, the Online version asked me to pay the full price, which was significantly more than the CD version. I then called Customer service and spent another 2 hours with this technician repeating everything the previous technician did. I was then told that the Online version would be best for me but she did not have the authority to issue an online service code to eliminate the price. I was told that I would receive a call at 11am on Saturday Feb 13th from someone at TurboTax that could authorize the source code.... 11am Sat 13th, no calls. I called and had to wait on hold  2hrs 12 mins before someone answered the phone. This person did not really know what she was doing and told me that she was sending me a phone number that went directly to someone that could provide the source code. She sent a message resolved email to me with a link to a phone number that was for the TurboTax prepaid charge cards.  I then called back Sun Feb 14th and the technician also remoted onto my computer and went through the same steps but she also was unable to get the CD software to work. She then stated that Online Source codes will not be generated until Feb 26th and that I must call back then. Here are my Case Code #'s starting with the latest to the first one, [social security number removed], [social security number removed], [social security number removed], [social security number removed].

I have been using TurboTax CD software for close to 20 years with never a problem until now.

Did you install from the CD?  Or did they have you try installing from the download?  The CD has instructions for downloading instead.  Although there is a problem registering for the download if you already used the CD.  I assume you tried turning off your antivirus, clearing the cache, etc?

I want to thank the community for their offers of help.  Update:  In working with Intuit, I determined that I had some kind of environmental problem.  The error I received in the disc version, then the download, then another disk, all repeated the error.  THEN, I tried my 2019 version that worked last year and it got the same error!!  Clearly some kind of environmental error on my machine.

 

I had been having questions with my PC and Windows.  And when I purchased Office365, I lost all confidence in my machine.  After 50 years of Excel, I felt stupid using the 365.  

 

I purchased a Mac Air.  Intuit was very helpful in providing me a copy of the Mac version of Delux which runs fine.  I even was able to make the 2019 files available and the transfer of power went well.

 

I'm feel INTUIT TREATED ME VERY WELL.  And the community tried, but the information exchange environment results in many repeated questions and answers given but not available to the community trying to help.

 

Thanks everyone.  I never would have believed I'd be a happy Mac guy but now I'm even growing to like Pages and Numbers!  And I'm good with my Mac, iPad and iPhone.  

 

We're freezing in Colrado but looking for spring 2021.  Thanks again.

I bought the Deluxe CD at Sam's Club. When I put it in the drive it hums like it is working but nothing comes up. What am I doing wrong?

Do other CDs work in the drive?  You inserted it the right way up?  Some people put the CD in upside down.

I keep getting a duplicate turbo tax icon and cannot delete either one.  It keeps saying that there is already one open and it won't replace or delete the other one.
